Kevin’s 4 Hour Body: Day 30

At 36 years of age, it’s really time that I take my health and fitness seriously.

On 12/13/14 I bought the 4 Hour Body, by Tim Ferriss and promptly started his “slow-carb” diet. Within a few weeks I also bought my first kettlebell and started swinging away.

Here’s my 4 week check in:
I’ve lost 8 pounds of fat while gaining 2 pounds of muscle. (10 body reshape)
I’ve lost 2.25 total inches thus far (measuring chest, waist, hips, biceps and thighs).
My body fat% went down 3.5%. Considering the holidays, I think this is great!

Here’s what’s next:
My goal for the next 30 days is another 10 pound reshape (losing 8 pounds of fat and gaining 2 pounds of muscle). Soon after that is the 2 day mountain bike ride in Costa Rica, so I need to work hard to be ready.

I’ve taken some before pictures that I’ll consider posting ONLY IF the after pictures are so good that it’s worth the embarrassment. Definitely no guarantees.

Changes I’m experimenting with:
#1 In the first 3 weeks I was not building enough muscle. I started adding the “30 Day Shred” to my routine on January 4th, which currently I do every other day.
#2 I was not taking on any carbs and I believe this was counter productive to my bike training. Starting Jan 10th I began carb loading 18 hours before I train on the bicycle.
